KAMPALA – Bushenyi’s Parental Care Nursery and Primary School has won the 2026 Teachers’ Debate Network (TDN) Debate Championship in the Junior Category in a stunning display of youthful eloquence.

The victory marks a historic moment for the upcountry school, which demonstrated that academic excellence and oratory prowess are not confined to the capital.

Meanwhile, Martyrs’ SS Namugongo rose to the occasion in the senior category, cementing their legacy as a formidable debating powerhouse.
Overpowering Kigezi High School in a tense, thrilling final, they wielded masterful logic and elegant rhetoric to seize the prestigious senior crown.
This year’s TDN Debate Championship was the most competitive in the event’s history, attracting a total of 70 schools from across Uganda: 42 primary schools and 28 secondary schools.
The diverse participation underscored the growing culture of debating as a tool for nurturing leadership and civic awareness among Ugandan students.
With their national triumph secured, Parental Care Nursery and Primary School now sets its sights on an even greater challenge.
Reigning TDN Junior Champions, the Bushenyi-based school will represent Uganda at the East African Championship in September 2026, alongside top schools from across the region.
