RUBIRIZI, UGANDA – The incoming Bunyaruguru Constituency MP, Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo, has warned the public against acquiring unplanned bank loans, as their default can lead to the loss of properties to financial institutions.

Hon. Cadet Benjamin Buturo made the remarks on Friday, April 3rd, 2026, while joining Christians at Rugazi Catholic Parish for a cross reenactment ceremony during Good Friday prayers.

He warned that predatory lending often leads to domestic violence, hunger, poverty, and debt-related imprisonment, advising the public to borrow only what they can confidently repay.

“Stay away from loans you have not planned for. If you can’t pay back, you may lose your property to the bank. Bad loans can bring fighting at home, hunger, poverty, and even jail. My simple advice: only borrow what you are sure you can pay back,” warned MP Cadet Benjamin.

The legislator also urged people to share personal problems with friends and family for guidance rather than bottling them up, confirming that one’s silent stress can lead to suicide or hospitalization.

The parish priest of Rugazi Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. Alphonse Mukundane, passionately urged Christians to embrace unity, kindness, and mutual respect as foundational virtues of their faith.

He emphasized that believers worldwide commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ as a profound moment to reflect on sacrifice, love, and redemption.

“As we commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ, a solemn moment to reflect on sacrifice, love, and redemption, I passionately urge all Christians to embrace unity, kindness, and mutual respect as the foundational virtues of our faith,” said Fr. Alphonse.

Fr. Mukundane noted that Jesus’ death and resurrection remind Catholics of forgiveness, reconciliation, redemption, empathy, and compassion, virtues at the heart of Christian witness and community.
